4TERRAIN Achieves SFI certification.

Clutch industries is pleased to advise that after extensive testing by the SFI foundation of North America,  its 4WD performance range, 4Terrain has received SFI certification. SFI Certification is a quality assurance program for the performance products industry and was born and has continued for many years as a result of the determination of the founders of SEMA.  In time, the need for yet a more sophisticated specifications program became apparent. A new organization, the SEMA Foundation, Inc., or SFI, was formed to replace the Service Bureau, chartered to organize and manage an expanded industry specs program. That name has been shortened to SFI Foundation, Inc.

In announcing the achievement of certification, Alaina Mills, of Clutch Industries said “We are not sure, but to the best of our knowledge we are the first company to seek and achieve certification of a dedicated 4WD performance clutch”, Ms Mills went on to say that “normally such certification is only sought by manufacturers of racing clutch products, however we could think of no better test to prove the capabilities of the 4Terrain cover assembly”. Each 4Terrain cover assembly will now be clearly identified with a unique SFI certification number.

It is not only the design of the product, which has enabled Clutch Industries to achieve this milestone but also the quality of materials used. At the heart of the product is the spheroidal graphite cast pressure plate; commonly know as “SG Iron”, a material that is used by many in high performance applications. The SG Iron casting used by Clutch Industries in its 4terrain products is in made in Horsham, Victoria.

Since its introduction 4Terrain has proven very successful. For those who demand a little more, tow, or do serious off road work, 4Terrain has proved itself a worthy option.

So the question of “Why has Clutch Industries Pty Ltd decided to have the product SFI certified”. In answering this, Ms Mills said, “The certification programme is widely recognised by manufacturers, consumers and industry bodies in the USA. As our plan for 4Terrain includes a drive into the US market later this year, we believe that certification will assist with our marketing activities. You just need to look at who are SFI members to see the potential advantage certification has. The hard part is that you need to make a good product before you can have it certified.”
