Technical Tip – Installation of new Concentric Cylinders in Holden V8 5.7 Litres:
After installing a new concentric slave cylinder into a Holden 5.7 litre GEN111, it is common to experience difficulty in obtaining a good pedal feel, sometimes to the point of the clutch not releasing.
When fitting the new C.S.C. it is highly advisable to prime it before attempting to operate the clutch.
Procedure:
- Mount the CSC in position on the gearbox.
- Open the bleeder screw.
- Inject fluid into the line from the master cylinder, until fluid comes out the bleeder. (Depending upon model, it may be necessary to attach a flexible line to the intake pipe to enable this, and to ensure that the fluid level stays above the CSC.)
- Close the bleeder.
- Pump the slave manually a few times.
- Repeat steps 2, 3, & 4.
- Install gearbox assembly.
- Connect hydraulic lines and bleed clutch as normal.
