V8 Ute Racer “Chucky” wins Winton Round with CI Performance!

Gary “Chucky” Baxter was the winner of the latest V8 Ute series round at Winton in Victoria.

Gary, as do all competitors in this exciting category, won using a CI Performance “Track Series” clutch in his VE 6.0 litre ute.

He won the first race of the weekend after leading all the way, and did well in the second (reverse grid) race to finish 5th after starting 16th. “We set the car up for fast early laps. We try to go as fast as we can and where we end up, we end up” said Baxter.

The South Aussie had a great start in the third race and beat WPR Racing driver Colin Corkery off the pole position in the drag race into turn one. Baxter consolidated his lead to the flag. He moves to 4th in the championship standings on 422 points.

Series leader Leighton Crambrook was one step behind Baxter all day and coming 6th in race 2 and 2nd in the final race, finishing second overall in the round. He leads the series on 532 points
Corkery drove well to finish third over all in the round and lifted himself to 5th position in the series on 389 points.

The Clutch Industries “Hole Shot” Award for the best race start of the weekend went to Steve Robinson in his XR8.
